Flowers capture special moments, but their beauty doesn’t have to fade. Pressing flowers is a timeless way to preserve nature’s elegance and craft something meaningful. At Blu.ma, we love sharing creative floral projects, and today, we’re guiding you through making handmade greeting cards with pressed flowers—a perfect gift or keepsake!

Step 1: Selecting & Pressing Your Flowers
The key to beautiful pressed flowers is choosing the right blooms and following proper drying techniques.
Choose Flat, Vibrant Flowers
✔ Ideal options: Pansies, daisies, violets, ferns, and small roses
✔ Avoid thick flowers (like succulents) as they don’t press well.
Pressing Process
Lay a piece of absorbent paper on a flat surface.
Arrange your flowers and foliage in a single layer.
Cover with another sheet of paper and sandwich between heavy books or use a flower press.
Store in a dry, well-ventilated area for 1-2 weeks until fully dried.

Step 2: Designing Your Greeting Cards
Once your flowers are pressed, it's time to create!
Plan Your Design
✔ Arrange your pressed flowers on blank cardstock before gluing.
✔ Experiment with different layouts—minimalist or floral collages.
Assembling Your Card
Using tweezers, pick up a pressed flower.
Apply a thin layer of acid-free glue to the back.
Gently press onto your card and let it dry completely.
Add a Personal Touch
✔ Write a handwritten message or use calligraphy for an artistic feel.
✔ Incorporate ribbons, water-color details, or stamps for extra charm.

Step 3: Preserving Your Creation
To ensure your pressed flower cards stay beautiful:
Seal with a light spray fixative to prevent fading. Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. Frame your creation for a lasting floral art piece!
